Added the second round of polio vaccine in the national immunization program
In line with the final step in eradicating polio in 2016, the divalent oral polio vaccine has replaced the trivalent vaccine, and since December 2015, a single injection of polio at 4 months of age has been added to the current immunization program.
According to the director of the Infectious Diseases Management center of Health Ministry, in accordance with the recommendations of the World Health Organization, in order to reduce the risk of entry and spread of type 2 vaccine-derived poliovirus, which in recent years has multiplied and spread significantly in two indigenous paralyzed countries, National Immunization Committee approved the addition of a second dose of polio vaccine to the current 6-month immunization schedule. The recommendation was first implemented in the provinces of Sistan and Baluchestan and Khorasan Jounobi due to the proximity of these two provinces to Afghanistan and Pakistan and is now being implemented in all provinces of the country.
