Microsoft: Windows Server 2022 is now generally available

Microsoft has announced that Window Server 2022, a Long Term Servicing Channel (LTSC) release with ten years of support, is generally available starting today.
"It’s a big step forward for the operating system that is trusted by major corporations and small businesses alike to run their business and mission-critical workloads," Microsoft's Bernardo Caldas said today.
"With Windows Server 2022, customers can continue to securely run their workloads, enable new hybrid cloud scenarios, and modernize their applications to meet evolving business requirements."
While the general availability of Windows Server 2022 was just revealed, the new release was made available to customers via the Volume Licensing Service Center and began rolling out to mainstream users almost two weeks ago, as ZDNet reported.
Furthermore, the company also updated its lifecycle page to show that the support start date for the new Windows Server version started on August 18, with the Mainstream End Date set on October 13, 2026, and the Extended End Date set to October 14, 2031.
Comes with security and cloud-focused improvements
Microsoft announced that Window Server 2022 entered preview in March as the next LTSC release with advanced hybrid capabilities with Azure, multi-layer security, and a flexible platform to modernize apps with containers.
"By upgrading to Windows Server 2022, you can take advantage of multi-layer security with Secured-core server, and secured connectivity," Microsoft said.
"In addition, you can leverage cloud services with on-premises by connecting with Azure Arc, SMB Compression to improve application file transfer, the Windows Admin Center, scalability improvements, advancements to Windows containers, and more."
A full lit of new features available in Windows Server 2022 can be found on Microsoft's documentation website.
To get started with Windows Server 2022, you can download it or try it on Azure via the Windows Server Evaluation Center.
Other options available for those who want to try out or download the new Windows Server release include:
