According to WebDa Markazi report, Dr. Fakhreddin Shariatmadari on the occasion of World Epilepsy Day said "Epilepsy is commonly referred to as seizures, but we should know that these two words are different from each other, and seizures become epilepsy if they continue and recur in the future".
"Fever and seizures are currently seen in more than one percent of children in the community, and this requires teaching to prevent seizures among children" he added.
He emphasized" People who have a history of seizures should inform the lifeguard if they swim, avoid going to heights, and prolonged bathing, also, long-term and continuous use of computers and phones and inhaling the smell of tobacco is harmful for these people; people with a history of seizures should avoid strenuous activity and starvation for long periods of time.
Dr. Shariatmadari warned due to cold weather and said "According to the statistics, carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide poisoning are very common in these people; therefore, necessary precautions should be taken when installing and using heating devices.
In the end, he considered the treatment of epilepsy as a set of drug interventions, ketogenic treatment regimens and surgery, and expressed hope that new medical teaching in this regard could be achieved by relying on increasing medical knowledge and using experiences of the past.
